A student may have a special educational need if –
- The find it harder to learn than students of the same age.
- They have a learning difficulty that calls for additional provision or different teaching arrangements to be made for them.
The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice has the following stages:
If your child is at School Action their needs will be met using the Provision Map. The detailed provision map can be found on this website. If you would like a copy through the post please contact the school.
School Action Plus
After a review of your child’s IEP it may be necessary to involve outside agencies.
For a very few students the help given by school through Action Plus may not be sufficient. It will then be necessary for the school to consider asking the LEA to initiate a statutory Assessment.
Statement of Special Educational Needs
The LEA issues a statement determining what special arrangements your child needs.
