Pastoral care

Tutor registration from 9-9:15am every morning is a core part of our curriculum time at Malmesbury School. The tutor is the first point of contact with students; they know each student’s needs and interests very well and can therefore offer a high level of pastoral care on a daily basis. Please click here for the list of tutors and tutor bases.

Tutor expectations

During tutor time the tone is set for the rest of the day so students will be expected to arrive in correct uniform and bring the equipment they need for the day. The minimum is a black pen, pencil and ruler. The full equipment list can be found here.

Tutor programme

There is a programme for tutor registration in Years 7-11. Days will differ for each tutor group, but the ‘menu’ of activities is as follows:

In sixth form students have weekly tutorials, please click here for more information.

Tutor time is a valuable opportunity for students to build close relationships with their peers and to explore a wide range of topics in a safe, supportive and fun environment. There may be debates, competitions, quizzes – a wide variety of activities to capture students’ interests and expose them to culture, politics and news. The House activity is a whole-school activity, often with an element of competition! Past themes have included Mental Health Week, Fairtrade, Sports Relief, Anti-Bullying and Interfaith Week.
