The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is committed to providing for young people an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development, which is of the highest quality and the widest reach.

At Malmesbury School there is an established and successful programme of students participating in the DofE Award at Bronze (Yr 9) and Silver (Yr 10). This year we are proud to be adding Gold level which is being offered to our Year 12 students.

There are four sections to complete at all three levels. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition. At Gold, there is an additional section, a residential. Students can use the Opportunities Finder on the DofE website to find a residential that appeals to them.

We have also appointed two students to complete a Young Leaders Programme. These individuals will be trained by the DofE directly online and at school through our DofE Lead to enable them to support the DofE provision in school.

Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.

To find out more visit www.dofe.org or ask to speak to our DofE Lead Mrs. Daniels.
